Reading for pleasure is the easiest way to become a better reader in English. It is also (important) way.

Some students say they don't want to read pleasure. They say they want to use their time to learn the rules of the language and new words. They say that pleasure reading (be) too easy.

Many experts say pleasure reading is very important for learning English. Dr. Stephen Krashen, a famous expert, on (learn) I languages, says that pleasure reading helps you :learn many important things about English. Students learn more grammar and more words they read for pleasure. They also learn ； more about good writing.

Dr. Krashen (tell) us that pleasure reading helps each student in a different way. Each student needs to learn something different. Pleasure reading makes it possible for each student to learn he or she needs.

Reading for pleasure is not the same   studying. When you read for pleasure, you choose your own books, and you don t have to remember everything. There are no tests on your pleasure reading. Pleasure reading will help you：

l      learn how English speakers use English.

l      read (fast) in English than before.

l      find examples of good writing in English.

l      learn new words.

l      learn about culture of English speakers.

What do you call a school with no tests, no grades, no classes, and no teachers? Students of the Met School and their parents think it to be the best school in the world.

The school is in Rhode Island, the USA. Dennis Littky opened it in 1996. He was fired from two other schools, because many parents of the school students were unhappy with his unusual ideas. The Met School gives Littky a great place to try out his new ideas. The school takes poor kids who are failing at school. Nearly everybody has already given up these students and their parents want to try anything.

"The word that most kids use when they talk about high school is 'boring', " says Littky, "But no one would say the Met was boring. " Advisors (not teachers) work with small groups of students for four years. Students spend almost half of their school time learning real-life skills, such as working for business, spending time with government people, and helping teach younger children. Instead of tests, the students give shows about their work outside school.

In fact, students work harder here than in other schools. All the students from the Met graduate and can choose to go to a good university. Now, Bill Gates is starting schools like this one around the USA.
