On a hot African morning, Leila was lying on her stomach and an elephant was walking towards her. Leila waited. Then she pushed the button on her camera." And I got my best photo of an elephant ever, by lying under my car," Leila explained. "I wanted to get close to the elephants, but of course this was dangerous. They had their babies with them. So every morning I used to park my car in the open near the path. They used to take the same path every morning when they left the water hole. After a week, they were used to seeing my car. So the next morning, I lay under it and got my photo!'

Many of the best wildlife photos come from good planning. In Africa, photographers set up their hides( 隐蔽处) near water holes. They also set up hides near forest paths, as animals use the same paths every night. For bird watching, many lakes have hides. Inside the hides, bird watchers can watch all day in the shade out of the wind and rain.

Good wildlife photos are needed for books, postcards, magazines and newspapers. But a success rate of 1 in 20 is good.

Whether it's a new baby or the cute little dog next door, there's a good chance that your dog doesn't want to share your love with anyone else. Some people may think that jealousy (嫉妒) is a human-only feeling. But have you ever played with another dog around your dog or petted (抚摸) a different dog when you're taking a walk? Many dogs don't like it when they're not the centre of their owners' attention.

A few years ago, researchers at the University of California, San Diego, found that dogs showed jealous actions when their owners showed love toward another dog. For the study, researchers watched videos of interactions (互动) between 36 owners and their dogs in their homes. They had the owners pay no attention to their dogs but play with a robotic dog, which was treated as a real dog. Owners petted it and talked to it sweetly.

About 62%of the dogs were likely to touch or push their owners when they were interacting with the robotic dog. About one third of the dogs tried to get between the owner and the robotic animal and some even barked at the "other dog".

"Our study suggests that dogs not only show jealous actions but also try to break up the relationship between the owner and a seeming competitor,' "said Professor

Therefore, your dog might act out when he's trying to get your attention and may be experiencing feelings of jealousy. For example, be may draw your attention by licking (舔) you, or he may suddenly run into the bathroom to get attention or even to show displeasure. So if you have more than one pet, be sure to give them the same attention so that one pet doesn't feel forgotten.

My Favourite Photo

Two weeks before Christmas vacation, I was (exciting). I asked Dad, "Where are we going this year?

"Dr Kelly has a special trip for (we) to Mexico.' And we'll go with same people that went to Laredo last year. We head out the day after Christmas and stay for four days," Dad said, "This is the coolest trip, Dad. I get to spend time you and my friends."

The week before Christmas, we started (prepare). December in Mexico is very cold, people need to wear warm clothes and shoes. Dad and Dr Kelly took cooking very (serious), so we went to a store to buy enough food.

Soon, we were on the road to the border (边境) town of Eagle Pass. Three (hour) later we arrived at the Rio Grande River. Here we could see Mexico across the river.

We went across the bridge waited in line at the checkpoint (关卡). Then we finally left America and started the adventure. It was the first time I had seen firewood (柴火)that was (use) for cooking and heating. In the next few days, I had the best time with my family and friends.
