The first cartoons came out in newspapers. They told stories by using pictures. In this movie, an artist drew pictures of two faces on a blackboard. The faces came to life. There were lot of animals in early cartoons. One well-known early cartoon character was Felix the Cat. Walt Disney started to make cartoons in the 1920s. But in Disney's cartoon, it was called Alice in Cartoon Land. Walt Disney's most famous cartoon character was Mickey Mouse. It was made in 1928, first in a black-and-white movie without sound, then very soon after that in a talking movie and later in color.
