There are two main (reason) why the temperature of the air is always (change). One reason is that the air around you (move) in from somewhere else. Air usually moves in large bodies (call) air masses. Some air masses move in from the north. These air masses usually have cold air that causes the temperature (drop). Air masses also move in from the south. They usually have warmer air that causes the temperature to rise.

    Temperature changes during the day or night can be great small. This depends (part) on how many clouds are in the sky. there are many clouds during the night, they act like covers on your bed. They blanket the earth and keep the air from (lose) much of its heat. The temperature usually does not drop much during such a night. When there are many clouds during day, some of the sun's energy will not reach the earth. The temperature usually does not rise much on such a day.

    Nowadays a vegetarian (素食的) lifestyle is becoming more and more popular. Keeping a vegetarian diet is one of the best things we can do.

     A well planned vegetarian diet provides us with all the nutrients (营养素) we need and avoids fat, cholesterol (胆固醇) found in animal flesh, eggs, and dairy foods. And it can provide protection against various kinds of diseases, including the three biggest killers: heart disease, cancer, and other serious diseases. The American Dietetic Association states that vegetarians have lower rates of death from heart disease, lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure and lower rates of high blood pressure. Scientists have also found that vegetarians have stronger immune systems than their meat-eating friends. Vegetarians live, on average, 6 to 10 years longer than meat eaters.

     Animals raised for food consume the vast majority of their calories simply in order to live, just as we do. We feed more than 70 percent of the grains to farm animals. So it's really a huge waste, isn't it? Try your best to find tips on the health benefits of a vegetarian diet.

    Joan and Natty were two young mothers living opposite each other. From their living room windows, each woman could1 the activities of the other woman's family.

          In early October, thousands of people around the globe stepped outside to gaze at their local night sky. As part of an event called the Great World Wide Star Count, adults and kids looked for one of two constellations (星座) — Cygnus in the Northern Hemisphere and Sagittarius in the Southern Hemisphere. The observers recorded how many stars they saw and how bright the stars were, and then posted their results online.

          The Star Count was part of a global effort to help scientists learn more about how light pollution affects our view of the night sky. Whether participants saw thousands of stars — or just a dozen — depended a lot on whether they were surrounded by darkness or by twinkling city lights.

          On a clear night, with no clouds, moonlight, or artificial lights to block the view, people can see more than 14,000 stars in the sky, but when people are surrounded by city lights they're lucky to see 150 stars.

          If you've ever driven toward a big city at night and seen its glow from afar, you've witnessed light pollution. It occurs when light from streetlights, office buildings, signs, and other sources streams into space and illuminates the night sky. This light makes many stars invisible to people on earth.

          Dust and particles of pollution from factories and industries worsen the effects of light pollution. When these particles float into the atmosphere, light ricochets (跳飞) off of them and scatters even more.

          Light pollution doesn't only affect star visibility. It can harm wildlife too. Scientists don't entirely understand how animals navigate at night, but it's clear that artificial light can attract them, making them go off course. There's increasing evidence, for example, that migrating birds use sunsets and sunrises to help find their way.
